Below are a compilation of websites that will be useful to you and your students.  They range from single activities to full units.  A brief description of each website has been included.  They are as follows:

1.  CyberGuide originally written by Linda Taggart-Fregoso - Revised by Mary Jewell - The unit deals with why good writers use symbolism in their writing, point of view, writing a persuasive and reflective essay etc. Click on CyberGuide to access the website.

Wikis 

What is a Wiki?

Wikipedia defines a Wiki as 'a collection of web pages designed to enable anyone who accesses it to contribute or modify content, using a simplified markup language.^[1][2] Wikis are often used to create collaborative websites and to power community websites. The collaborative encyclopedia, Wikipedia, is one of the best-known wikis.^[2] Wikis are used in business to provide intranets and Knowledge Management systems. Ward Cunningham, developer of the first wiki software, WikiWikiWeb, originally described it as "the simplest online database that could possibly work".^[3]

"Wiki" (/wiːkiː/) is originally a Hawaiian word for "fast". It has been suggested that "wiki" means "What I Know Is".^{[citation needed]} However, this is a backronym. "Wiki Wiki" is a reduplication of the same word.

1.  This is a really good forum.  Check it out to see what students are doing. This article has been edited/expanded in large part by the Gr. 10 English Set 1 Class at Diocesan College (Bishops).  Initially it started as a forum for discussions and since turned into the oral activity into a written analysis and discussion.  They discuss the following themes: courage and bravery, bias and predjudice, the role of education in the novel, "standing in other people's shoes" and trivia.  You can access this Wiki  by clicking TKAM Theme Discussion.
