Introduction

Research states that there is power in using videos to teach.  Check out this blog by 'Teacher Tube' that provides current research on using videos in the classroom.

Here are a couple of short videos that I found on YouTube that I thought you might find useful to teach a theme or concept or for demonstration purposes.  Some of them are student made, adaptations of the original, or trailers.  I hope you find them helpful.

To Kill A Mockingbird - Boo Radley - Misunderstood -  this was a class project by ndiamon.  The YouTube video was uploaded in 2011 - it is really well done.

To Kill A Mockingbird - Trailer - 2:53 - Overview of the movie The trailer has been disabled.  Click on the link to be taken to the trailer.

I wasn't sure where to put this next link as it is a Digital Book Talk versus a video trailer for the movie.  Until I figure out where to put it I will house it with the video trailers.

Here is a link to a Digital Book Talk  for the novel To Kill a Mockingbird  by Harper Lee.  It was created by the University of Central Florida - School of Film and Digital Media.  It gives a concise overview of the novels themes through the eys of Jean Louise “Scout” Finch.

Video SparkNotesTo Kill a Mockingbird Summary Video - 7:24 - The narration is very good and the pictures used to illustrate the summary are well done.
Andrew Smith marks the 50th anniversary of the influential novel To Kill A Mockingbird.  He visits Monroeville in Alabama, the setting of the book, to see how things have changed 50 years later.
60 Second Recap of To Kill a Mockingbird.  There are 10 sixty second recap videos.  They range from the meet the cast to the conclusion of the novel. They are nicely narrated.  The only downside is that there are ads in the free version. Locate the recaps on the right hand side.
